Previously we have had issues with the loot system due to many instabilities in the DayZ Loot code. We have completely rewritten the game mechanic behind the loot system. This change will allow us to dynamically set loot on any position within the game. Loot can be changed on the fly without the need to reboot the game server. The loot changes will occur instantly and in such a way that we can see real time changes.

We are taking advantage of the speed of the MySQL server and the hive to integrate the loot directly into the hive system. Queries take as little as 0.12 seconds to pull a loot spawn and return it to the game. This means faster loot cycles in the game, with less lag on the server side. Loot positions are currently the only aspect inside of the game that will be required; although, we are considering moving this into the Hive as well. This would allow us to change loot positions on the fly as well.

This feature will drastically change the capability of the server, inching us more towards that RPG engine that we believe Arma can become.

Once the feature has been flushed out more fully, we will move it over to the Dev server where all users can test the new feature!
